Podcast Guest Proposal:
A Dad with Cancer. His One Pound Newborn Daughter, Hannah. And Their Fight for Life
I recently released my memoir, Touched by Hannah (September 2025)—the story of when I was diagnosed with cancer and my daughter Hannah was born weighing one pound. We both fought for our lives. We both survived.
Why Chris and Hannah would be great guests:
Hannah's appearances are a hook! Listeners are absolutely intrigued and thrilled seeing the healthy, 16-year-old who was born at one-pound and nine ounces.
Chris accomplished marketing, promoting, selling and producing 1500 professional videos from 1990 until retiring in 2018.
Chris will market, promote, publicize the podcast on his social media (20,000), Facebook Groups, Hennschtick Substack Newsletter(1600 monthly readers), reach out to newspapers, radio, and TV news to recreate what he did for the Book Launch..
I'm an award-winning filmmaker who's produced over 1,500 films and interviewed thousands on camera for clients like Google, eBay, and the SF 49ers. I've been interviewed on dozens of podcasts, TV news programs, and radio shows, and I'm a seasoned speaker for writers' conferences and corporate events. I know how to tell a story, hold a room, and navigate both humor and heartbreak.
Hannah is 16 now and fearless on camera—she starred in my TV series Yolo YoYo's (Best New Cable Series, Sacramento Access TV). She carries the microphone like she was born for it. At our November 2025 book launch, we drew a standing-room-only crowd of 125 people with a line out the door. Hannah's five-minute speech had them laughing one moment and wiping tears the next. The Story:
What started with a chance encounter at Whole Foods blossomed into a love that would face the ultimate test. When my wife Betsy was pregnant with our daughter Hannah, I was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer and underwent radical prostatectomy surgery. Then, while I was recovering from life-threatening post-surgery complications, Hannah arrived at 26 weeks—more than three months early, weighing just one pound, nine ounces.
I spent countless hours beside her incubator in excruciating pain, my giant finger clasped in her micro-preemie grasp. Wires connected her to machines, bandages wrapped her tiny limbs, and I sang improvised songs—"She's my little banana, my little Hannah banana. I love her, I need her"—praying we'd both make it home.
Touched by Hannah tells this story of simultaneous medical crises and impossible odds, demonstrating how we can choose positivity over despair, draw strength from prayer, and discover that hope and laughter are our greatest guides to healing.
